Second Cycle of the Periodic Reporting Exercise for Europe and North America - Decision 35 COM 10C.2

Madam, Sir,

I would like to inform you that the World Heritage Committee, at its 35th session (UNESCO, 2011 ), examined the Progress Report on Periodic Reporting in Europe and North America. Please find attached in Annex I the Decision 35 COM 10C.2 adopted by the Committee. The full list of the Decisions adopted by the World Heritage Committee at its 35th session is available electronically at https://whc.unesco.org/en/sessions/35COM. 

Furthermore, the Committee reiterated its request that the States Parties should submit the retrospective Statements of Outstanding Universal Value to the World Heritage Centre by 1 February 2012, in order to ensure the preparation of the Second Cycle of the Periodic Reporting Exercise. I would appreciate if you could ensure the timely submission of the information requested.

Please note that the timetable of the Second Cycle of the Periodic Reporting Exercise for Europe and North America has been approved by the Committee (see paragraph 7 of the Decision). I would also like to inform you that the online questionnaires of the Periodic Reporting Exercise will be accessible to the identified National Focal Points and site managers, once the Second Cycle of the exercise is launched by the World Heritage Committee at its 36th Session in 2012. However, the standard formats of the questionnaires are accessible for information at https://whc.unesco.org/en/activities/594/.
