To showcase the Dive into Heritage project's progress and generous contributions and support of the donor, a side event is organized on 12 September 2023, during the Extended 45th session of the World Heritage Committee. The event will be an opportunity to present the project to an extended audience, invite States Parties to share their digital World Heritage data with UNESCO, enhance the project's visibility, encourage future resource mobilization efforts, and provide a platform for exchange and consultation.
The event will commence with an opening address by UNESCO alongside a representative of the Ministry of Culture of Saudi Arabia. This will be followed by a presentation of the project and its different outcomes. The side event’s keynote will shed light on the project’s capacity building programme on digital cultural heritage. The keynote will be followed by an expert panel discussion on “Digital Storytelling: How can digital tools support World Heritage understanding and interpretation?”. The session will conclude with a demonstration of the platform. Finally, the side event will also launch an exhibition featuring some of the project’s key results through 3D video animations and 3D printed models of World Heritage sites documented and collected through the project.
