18. Le Sous-Directeur général pour la culture et la communication a félicité les États élus au Comité du patrimoine mondial. Il a ensuite fait référence au rôle essentiel joué par la Convention et le Comité pour sensibiliser le public à l’importance de préserver les monuments et sites culturels et naturels possédant une valeur pour l’humanité tout entière. Avant de prononcer la clôture de la réunion, le Président a déclaré que la mise en œuvre de la Convention constituait un exemple des activités auxquelles tous les pays avaient une contribution à apporter. Chacun d’entre eux possédait son propre patrimoine, et le patrimoine de toutes les nations réunies formait le patrimoine de l’humanité.
