The Norwegian Government supports many initiatives vital for UNESCO's mandate. Norway participation in UNESCO's activities is broad and diversified.
As the fourth largest donor to UNESCO in terms of extra-budgetary contributions as of 2005, the Norwegian development cooperation embraces such initiatives as Education for All, and support for quality assurance in higher education and culture.
Norway's contributions and support is further focused on cultural diversity and intercultural dialogue, World Heritage Sites under threat, tangible and intangible cultural heritage, cultural rights, cultural industries and copyright.
