Tentative Lists
A Tentative List is an inventory of those properties which each State Party intends to consider for nomination.
Disclaimer
The Tentative Lists of States Parties are published by the World Heritage Centre at its website and/or in working documents in order to ensure transparency, access to information and to facilitate harmonization of Tentative Lists at regional and thematic levels.
The sole responsibility for the content of each Tentative List lies with the State Party concerned. The publication of the Tentative Lists does not imply the expression of any opinion whatsoever of the World Heritage Committee or of the World Heritage Centre or of the Secretariat of UNESCO concerning the legal status of any country, territory, city or area or of its boundaries.
Out of 196 States Parties to the Convention, 189 have submitted a Tentative List.

Le Comité du patrimoine mondial,
- Ayant examinéle document WHC-14/38.COM/8A,
- Soulignant l’importance du processus de révision et de mise à jour des Listes indicatives, comme instrument pour l’harmonisation régionale de la Liste du patrimoine mondial et la planification à long terme de son développement ;
- Prend note des Listes indicatives présentées aux annexes 2 et 3 de ce document ;
- Rappelle que tous les États parties à la Convention doivent soumettre, dans toute la mesure du possible, des listes indicatives des biens situés sur leur territoire pouvant être considérés comme susceptibles d’être inscrits sur la Liste du patrimoine mondial ;
- Encourage les États parties à la Convention qui n’ont pas encore soumis de Liste indicative des biens du patrimoine situés sur leur territoire et qui seraient susceptibles d’être inscrits sur la Liste du patrimoine mondial à demander une assistance internationale pour les aider à préparer une telle liste ;
- Demande au Centre du patrimoine mondial de présenter une proposition pour la révision du processus d’enregistrement des Listes indicatives dans les Orientations, pour examen par le Comité du patrimoine mondial à sa 39e session en 2015.

- Stressing the importance of the process of revision and updating of Tentative Lists, as a tool for regional harmonisation of the World Heritage List and long-term planning of its development;
- Encourages States Parties to seek as early as possible upstream advice from the World Heritage Centre and the Advisory Bodies during the development or revision of their Tentative Lists as appropriate;
- Takes note of the Tentative Lists presented in Annexes 2 and 3 of this document.

- Reconnaissant l'importance des analyses comparatives et des propositions d'inscription transnationales en série, demande aux Organisations consultatives de poursuivre la préparation d'études thématiques pour guider les États parties dans la préparation de leurs listes indicatives et propositions d'inscription. Le rapport proactif de l'ICOMOS sur les paysages culturels dans les îles du Pacifique est un modèle pour cette assistance.
Le Comité du patrimoine mondial,
- Ayant examiné le document WHC-07/31COM/8A,
- Réaffirmant que les Listes indicatives sont essentielles pour permettre la planification et l'analyse comparative des biens à proposer pour inscription sur la Liste du patrimoine mondial,
- Soulignant l'importance de l'aide apportée par le Centre du patrimoine mondial, à la demande des pays, pour l'établissement des Listes indicatives,
- Demande au Centre du patrimoine mondial, en concertation avec les Organisations consultatives, de proposer une révision de la partie II.C («Listes indicatives») des Orientations, pour préciser les procédures d'analyse technique utilisées par le Centre du patrimoine mondial, et faire en sorte que les biens proposés sur les Listes indicatives s'inscrivent en cohérence avec les biens déjà inscrits sur la Liste du patrimoine mondial;
- Demande en outre au Centre du patrimoine mondial de présenter au Comité du patrimoine mondial, à sa 32e session, en 2008, une proposition à cet égard.
The World Heritage Committee,
- Having examined Document WHC-07/31.COM/8A,
- Takes note of the Tentative Lists as amended in Annexes 3 and 4 of this document,
- Recognizing the importance of Comparative Analysis and Transnational Serial nominations, requests the Advisory Bodies to continue to develop thematic studies to guide the States Parties in their tentative listing and nominations. The pro-active ICOMOS Report on Cultural Landscapes of the Pacific Islands is a model for this assistance.
The World Heritage Committee,
- Having examined Document WHC-07/31COM/8A,
- Reaffirming that Tentative Lists are instrumental for planning purposes and for comparative analysis of properties to be nominated for inscription on the World Heritage List,
- Stressing the importance of assistance by the World Heritage Centre, at countries' request, in the development of Tentative Lists,
- Requests the World Heritage Centre, in consultation with the Advisory Bodies, to propose a revision of Part II. C ("Tentative Lists") of the Operational Guidelines, in order to clarify the procedures of technical analysis by the World Heritage Centre and to ensure that properties proposed on the Tentative Lists are consistent with properties already inscribed on the World Heritage List;
- Further requests the World Heritage Centre to present to the World Heritage Committee, at its 32nd session in 2008, a proposal in this regard.
