The UNESCO World Heritage Centre, in partnership with the African World Heritage Fund (AWHF) and in collaboration with the Centre for Heritage Development in Africa (CHDA) and the Ministry of Arts and Culture of Mauritius, is organising a month-long field training project on risk management at World Heritage sites from the 19 August 2013 to 13 September 2013 at the Aapravasi Ghat and Le Morne Cultural Landscape World Heritage sites in Mauritius.

This training opportunity is open to anglophone World Heritage site managers, community leaders and related professionals from all African countries. Eligible female practitioners and community members are encouraged to apply. Ten participants will be selected for the field project, which will focus on creating a risk management plan and undertaking conservation work on the World Heritage sites, which is becoming more important as heritage properties are increasingly exposed to different threats such as fire, floods and conflict. It will also be an occasion for the participants to share their experience for better management and sustainable utilization of heritage resources.
