Europa Nostra Annual Congress 2010: Call for applications

Tuesday 09 Mar 2010
Thursday 15 Apr 2010

The Europa Nostra Annual Congress will take place from 10-12 June in Istanbul, one of three 2010 European Capitals of Culture. It will offer participants a programme of exciting events taking place in world-renowned heritage venues within the historic Süleymaniye Quarter of the city.

Planned meetings include the Europa Nostra Forum on the topical theme of "Multiple Identities, a Common Heritage", organised with the kind cooperation of the Mimar Sinan University, in the impressive setting of the Cultural Center Tophane, a true architectural landmark of historic Istanbul, built by the famous Ottoman architect Mimar Sinan. These events will be complimented by a variety of congress tours, receptions and dinners to ensure that participants experience Turkey's cultural heritage to the fullest.

The Congress should in particular provide  a platform for meeting representatives of a growing civil society movement committed to cultural heritage in Turkey, and for connecting those organisations with the wider European heritage movement. We also hope that the Congress will lead to the launch of Europa Nostra's country representation in Turkey, the aim of which will be to act as an efficient liaison and coordinating body between Europa Nostra and heritage NGOs in Turkey.

To participate, please complete the registration form and send it before 15 April 2010, either by e-mail (bz@europanostra.org), fax (+31-70-3617865), or post to Mrs Barbara Zander, Europa Nostra International Secretariat, Lange Voorhout 35, NL-2514 EC The Hague, The Netherlands.
