Lasting Mediterranean Impressions and Colours

Monday 28 Jun 2004
Friday 24 Sep 2004

The travelling exhibition Lasting Mediterranean Impressions and Colours is a meeting with the creativity and dynamism of Mediterranean arts and crafts. It re-assembles traditional arts and crafts, contemporary creations based on ancient materials and know-how, ancient pieces and different artistic views inspired from the Mediterranean cultural heritage. The products and items displayed are produced by independent craftspeople, associations or crafts cooperatives which are partners to the project or are associated to it.

This meeting represents an important occasion to demonstrate the necessity to protect them and to support cultural local initiatives. These initiatives, which also constitute economically sustainable activities, are an important factor for local development and socio-economic insertion, namely for underprivileged populations.

This exhibition is part of an important stage in the implementation of a new regional label dedicated to arts and crafts products, entitled "Cultural Development Products®", and introduced by the Mediterranean Fine Arts Chamber with the support of the European Commission and the UNESCO.
