Within the framework of the UNESCO/Netherlands Funds-in-Trust project "Implementation of World Heritage Committee Decisions in relation to Boundaries and Strategic Conservation at Gebel Barkal and the Sites of the Napatan Region, Sudan," the UNESCO World Heritage Centre and the UNESCO Khartoum Office organized, on 27 February 2023, a key meeting of partners and stakeholders.

In a significant stride towards preserving cultural heritage, this meeting served as a platform to present the tangible outcomes of the project, bringing to the forefront the progress made in mapping the boundaries of the site, proposing a comprehensive 5-year action plan, and identifying gaps in the 2011 management plan for the property.

Organized with the aim of seeking valuable input from the participants, the meeting allowed them to engage in fruitful discussions surrounding the strategic conservation efforts being undertaken, ensuring a holistic and inclusive approach to heritage conservation.

These collaborative efforts will contribute significantly to the effective conservation and management of the Gebel Barkal and the Sites of the Napatan Region World Heritage property.
