In the framework of the World Heritage Earthen Architecture Programme (WHEAP), the UNESCO World Heritage Centre has organized an exhibition entitled “20 years contributing to World Heritage” by CRAterre-ENSAG, which will be on display in the Gallery Space “Miro 3” at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris from 4 to 23 January 2013.

The exhibition, which is in French, highlights the past 20 years of collaboration between UNESCO World Heritage Centre and CRAterre, the International Centre for Earthen architecture (School of Architecture of Grenoble, France), which has been working since 1979 towards the recognition of earth materials as a valid response to the challenges linked to the protection of the environment, the preservation of cultural diversity and the fight against poverty.

This exhibition highlights the expertise provided by CRAterre in 20 of the 44 case studies from the World Heritage sites, and provides details on the World Heritage Programme of UNESCO for earthen architecture. The exhibition also highlights the inventory of World Heritage sites of earthen architecture in the world, which was conducted in 2012 by UNESCO and CRATerre, which currently includes 150 sites.

This exhibition is made possible thanks to support received from the ENSAG / Labex AE&CC.
