32nd Session of the World Heritage Committee to meet from 2-10 July in Quebec, Canada

The World Heritage Committee will meet for its 32nd session in Quebec, Canada from 2-10 July. During the session, the Committee will consider requests for the inscription of new sites on UNESCO's World Heritage List and examine the state of conservation of sites already inscribed on the List. The Committee is chaired by Dr Christina Cameron, who has headed Canada's delegation to the World Heritage Convention since 1990, making her the longest-serving head of any of the delegations. She holds the Canada Research Chair on Built Heritage at the Université de Montréal. This is the second session of the World Heritage Committee to be held in Canada; the first was the 14th session held in Banff in 1990.

The World Heritage Committee consists of representatives from 21 of the States Parties to the Convention Concerning the Protection of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage, elected by the General Assembly of States Parties to the Convention.

The current composition of the Committee is: Australia, Bahrain, Barbados, Brazil, Canada, China, Cuba, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Kenya, Madagascar, Mauritius, Morocco, Nigeria, Peru, Republic of Korea, Spain, Sweden, Tunisia, United States of America

Registration

States Parties to the Convention and Observers are strongly advised to register no later than 31 May 2008, to allow sufficient time for administrative arrangements and printing of ID badges by the Canadian Meeting Managers.
