By 1518, Don Diego Caballero de la Rosa asked the king a league of land in square measurement with the faculty to have juridical proceeding over it, with the purpose to find a village. The Diego Caballero Sugar Mill costed the King 15,000 gold coins and it had a population formed by spaniards, negroes and indians with more than sixty stone made houses and a church with a clergy man. Another important construction of the Diego Caballero was the water canal.
