Conservation issues presented to the World Heritage Committee in 2013

On 1 February 2013, Spain submitted a report on the state of conservation of the property providing information concerning the tunnel and possible vibrations caused by high speed trains near the Casa Milà and the Sagrada Familia. The Spanish Railway Infrastructure Administration (ADIF) has confirmed that the Sant Sagrera Tunnel has been put in service in January 2013. The report points out that that there has been no soil compaction or other events affecting the property and that the property is in stable condition. The report informs also about the implementation of a Vibrational Monitoring Programme with the purpose of surveying and preventing any negative impact on the property. 

Analysis and Conclusion by World Heritage Centre and the Advisory Bodies in 2013

The World Heritage Centre and the Advisory Bodies are of the view that the state of conservation of the property is being adequately addressed by the State Party. The State Party is encouraged to continue to monitor closely the state of conservation of the property and implement all relevant measures in order to prevent any threats to its Outstanding Universal Value.
