UNESCO World Heritage app downloaded over 13,000 times

To launch the 40th anniversary celebrations of the World Heritage Convention, UNESCO offered the World Heritage iPhone/iPad application (app) free for one day. On Wednesday, 16 November the app was downloaded 13,343 times from the Apple iTunes store. It proved to be most popular in France, the United States and China.

An update of the App, which now features the 25 new sites added to the World Heritage List in 2011, is now available with the following enhancements:

  • You can now share details of each site via facebook, twitter or email
  • You can select the sites you have visited, record the date of your visitand share with friends
  • You can now search by UNESCO regions

This update is available to all current users of the app. To buy the UNESCO World Heritage app go to iTunes and search “UNESCO World Heritage”.


Note: due to technical reasons the app is not currently available in all countries.
