The Trinidad and Tobago National Commission for UNESCO, in collaboration with the National Trust of Trinidad and Tobago and the Tourism Development Company organized in Port of Spain (Trinidad and Tobago) on 1st and 2nd November 2016, the Second Workshop on the World Heritage Convention.

This international workshop was conceived with the support of the World Heritage Centre together with the UNESCO Office in Habana and the UNESCO Office in Kingston.

General objective

This seminar was intended to facilitate the sub-regional exchange on several key themes related to the World heritage Convention, to prepare further national consultations, namely on the Tentative Lists, and to encourage active sub-regional cooperation.

Who participated?
  • Approximately 80 participants from Trinidad Tobago as well as from Anguilla (UK), Antigua and Barbuda, Belize, Cayman Islands (UK), Jamaica, Grenada, Guyana, St. Lucia, and Suriname
  • A representative from the World Heritage Centre
  • UNESCO Field Office in Havana
  • UNESCO Field Office in Kingston

This initiative was financially supported by the UNESCO Participation Programme (2016-2017).
