The City of Brussels recently hosted a workshop entitled "Inscription on the UNESCO World Heritage List: New perspectives for local development", which took place on 8 September 2015 at Brussels City Hall in the World Heritage site of La Grand-Place, Brussels (Belgium).

The workshop focused on issues specific to site management for properties inscribed on the World Heritage List. Expert representatives from several Belgian cities and regions and international heritage institutions presented case studies and participated in a round table discussion. The conversation examined how increased international recognition influences management of sites and their surrounding areas and highlighted the importance of the local level in the development of heritage policies. A follow-up meeting to form an association of Belgian heritage cities is planned for December.

All information on the presentations (texts and PowerPoints) and the photos of the event are available on the City of Brussels’ website http://ovpm2015.bruxelles.be.
