Potential boundary modification to the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage site

The UNESCO World Heritage Centre has taken note of information provided by individuals and civil society organizations concerning the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage site, and thanks them for their considerations and concerns.

The UNESCO World Heritage Centre has received a request from the Australian Government seeking the approval of the World Heritage Committee for a minor modification to the boundaries of the Tasmanian Wilderness  World Heritage site on 31 January 2014.

In line with the provisions of the Operational Guidelines for the Implementation of the World Heritage Convention, the World Heritage Centre will seek the evaluation of the relevant Advisory Bodies in this matter. It shall then submit the Advisory Bodies’ evaluation to the 38th session of the World Heritage Committee. The 38th session of the World Heritage Committee will take place in Doha, Qatar, from 15 to 25 June 2014.
