Hewlett-Packard is a company based in the United States specializing in manufacturing and providing technological solutions. A first partnership agreement was reached in 2003 with the company to strengthen and implement the World Heritage Centre's Information Management System through the "World Heritage Image and Documentation Management" project.

At the end of 2005 a new partnership was concluded between the World Heritage Centre, Hewlett-Packard and National Geographic Society to design, produce and distribute a new version of the World Heritage Map using a new digital printing technology.

Objectives :

  • Provide integral solutions to the management of data and documentation related to the World Heritage Convention in order to provide easy access to the wealth of information for members of the World Heritage community as well as for the general public;
  • Redevelop the World Heritage Centre's website;
  • Offer easily accessible documentation from the print-on-demand technology
  • Design, print and distribute a new World Heritage Map focusing as much on the editorial aspect as on the digital high-technology printing to raise public awareness.
