Workshop on World Heritage site management in Europe

6-7 October 2017

The Heritage-Environment Association and the “Architecte des Bâtiment de France” (French State architect) of the Pas de Calais area will organize a workshop on the management of World Heritage sites in France and Europe, to take place on 6 and 7 October 2017 at the Arras Citadel, part of the “Fortifications of Vauban” serial World Heritage property.

The information workshop has been created for associations, managers, mayors, decision makers, architects, legal experts, historians, private property owners, craftsmen and students.

The workshop aims to foster reflection and dialogue on the protection and management of properties inscribed on the World Heritage List and to promote the exchange of ideas and best practices.

Site visits to the World Heritage property “Nord-Pas de Calais Mining Basin”, as well as two memorial sites, are scheduled to take place following the one-day workshop.

The objective of the meeting is to take into account the dimensions of heritage as a whole and its potential as a catalyst for social, cultural and economic development, involving all stakeholders.
