22. The Committee took note of the IUCN statement on the poaching of rhinoceros in general, and of the declaration of the representative of the Yemen Arab Republic contesting views expressed by IUCN saying that these views did not correspond to the real situation and did not look into the problem in its globality. The Committee requested the Secretariat to continue its cooperation with the Secretariat of the Convention on the International Trade of Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) and particularly to investigate what joint measures could be taken to reinforce the protection against poaching in certain World Heritage sites.
