On-line Webinar for World Heritage managers in Central Asia

In July 2021, the UNESCO Office in Almaty, in close cooperation with the UNESCO World Heritage Centre and three Advisory Bodies to the World Heritage Convention (ICCROM, ICOMOS, IUCN), will organize a series of online capacity-building webinars for individuals and organizations responsible for the management of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage sites in Central Asia.

Employees of all organizations involved in the management of the Central Asian World Heritage sites, as well as representatives of State authorities, research organizations, NGOs and civil society, are invited to participate in them.

The webinars will be held in the online format in English and Russian languages with simultaneous translation, covering a variety of topics that are relevant to the challenges faced by the region in the field of heritage preservation and sustainable development.

The main topics are as follows:

• Dr. Feng Jing, Chief of Unit, Asia and the Pacific Unit, UNESCO World Heritage Centre (Paris)
• Ms Nao Hayashi, Programme Specialist, Asia and the Pacific Unit, UNESCO World Heritage Centre (Paris)

• Professor Richard Mackay, ICOMOS international expert, Cultural Heritage Expert and ICOMOS World Heritage Adviser
• Ms Sarah Court, ICCROM international expert, Focal Point for Impact Assessment within ICCROM/IUCN’s World Heritage Leadership programme 
• Mr Boris Erg, nature conservation and natural resources management expert, Director, IUCN Regional Office for Eastern Europe and Central Asia
• Ms Mizuki Murai, Conservation Officer of IUCN leading the monitoring of the state of conservation of natural and mixed World Heritage sites in Asia, East and Southern Africa, and North America

• Mr Rohit Jigyasu, Conservation architect and risk management expert, Project Manager on Urban Heritage, Climate Change and Disaster Risk Management at ICCROM
