World Heritage Expo to be Held in Northeastern China

The city of Shenyang in northeastern China will hold the World Cultural and Natural Heritage Expo from June 9 to October 9, 2007.

Sponsored by UNESCO, the exhibition will showcase natural and cultural heritage from around the world including photographs, models as well as written and video materials related to most of the World Heritage sites inscribed on the World Heritage list.

Forums and demonstrations of folk cultures will also be held during the event, and more than 130 sites from 54 countries have applied to display their national treasures at the expo.

There are currently 830 sites on the World Heritage List.
