To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the UNESCO World Heritage Convention, a photo exhibition entitled “50 Years of World Heritage Convention – Protecting the Past for Now and Future” will take place from 21 to 26 November at the Jordan Museum in Amman, Jordan.

The exhibition, curated by Linda Al Khoury, Founder of Darat Al Taswer, is organised under the patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Dana Firas, UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador for Cultural Heritage, and in cooperation with the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities and Department of Antiquities.

As such, the exhibition will showcase the six World Heritage Sites in Jordan, including rare old photographs from the archives of the Department of Antiquities and École biblique et archéologigue française de Jérusalem. In addition, the exhibition will also include photographs that depict aspects of Jordanian culture and biodiversity.

Opening remarks will be delivered by Her Royal Highness Princess Dana Firas, UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador; His Excellency Mr. Nayef Hamidi Mohammed Al-Fayez, Minister of Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities; His Excellency Dr. Fadi Balawi, Director-General of the Department of Antiquities; and Ms. Min Jeong Kim, UNESCO Representative to Jordan, followed by the awarding ceremony for UNESCO Jordan’s online photo competition.
