First Baltic Sea World Heritage Summit

24-26 September 2019

The Baltic Sea World Heritage Summit will take place in Karlskrona, Sweden, from 24 to 26 September 2019.

Co-organised by the Development of UNESCO Natural & Cultural Assets (DUNC) amongst others, the Summit for Coastal World Heritage sites around the Baltic Sea aims at strengthening the cooperation and the promotion of exchange of knowledge and good practices amongst stakeholders.

The Baltic Sea World Heritage Summit aims at gathering representatives from all coastal World Heritage sites around the Baltic Sea. The participants are World Heritage Coordinators, officials and politicians from the municipalities or regions, representatives from other organizations or businesses involved in the world heritage and representatives from the tourism industry.

The Summit will focus on key topics such as disaster risk management in case of fire or flooding at World Weritage sites; sustainable tourism development to help build inclusive communities, and debate on efforts at all levels to protect and safeguard coastal heritage assets for future generations.
