The ETCAEH program is one of the initiators of the post-graduate education in the field of integrated heritage protection both at national and European level.

Since its establishment in 2005, a group of leading international experts from different universities and institutions have been implementing innovative forms of education to respond to various global cultural contexts and provenances of students. The program is based on an interdisciplinary integration of basic scientific disciplines to provide knowledge in the field of protection, planning and management of built environment, cultural landscapes, ecosystems and related areas. The aim is to investigate existing and new theoretical and methodological fundamentals that ensure the understanding of the complexity of heritage values and are essential in the research and professional practice, also through innovative and sustainable solutions.

The program is carried out in close cooperation with ICCROM (International Centre for the Study of the Preservation and Restoration of Cultural Property) and other international organizations that guarantee a transdisciplinary educational context. Within the 3-year doctoral study programme (180 ECTS), students may complete a 1-year second level Master (60 ECTS). The specific feature of the master is the joint diploma issued by both ETCAEH founders, namely University of Nova Gorica (UNG) and Università Iuav di Venezia. Lectures are held in English.
