Report of the World Heritage Centre on its activities and the implementation of the World Heritage Committee’s Decisions

This document presents a report on the main activities, conducted by the World Heritage Centre since the 43rd session of the World Heritage Committee (Baku, 2019) and their results. It follows the structure of Expected Result 1 of Major Programme IV, as defined in the Approved 39 C/5 and 40 C/5 Programme and Budgets for 2018-2019 and 2020-2021.

The narrative part presents notably the progress made against the performance indicators defined in the Approved 39 C/5 and 40 C/5, a report on World Heritage Thematic Programmes and Initiatives as requested by Decision 42 COM 5A (Manama, 2018), a report on the synergies with other conventions and programmes, and, finally, the challenges and way forward.

The table in Annex 1 presents a list of activities with results obtained in pursuit of the 5 Cs (Credibility, Conservation, Capacity-building, Communication and Communities). Annex 2 contains the status of implementation of the Decisions adopted at the 43rd session (Baku, 2019). Annex 3 provides a list of meetings related to World Heritage in 2020 and 2021. A report on the use of the World Heritage Emblem can be found under Annex 4, while Annex 5 inventories World Heritage partnerships.
