Decision 43 COM 8B.22
Groβglockner High Alpine Road (Austria)

The World Heritage Committee,

  1. Having examined Documents WHC/19/43.COM/8B and WHC/19/43.COM/INF.8B1,
  2. Defers the examination of the nomination of the Groβglockner High Alpine Road, Austria, to the World Heritage List in order to allow the State Party, with the advice of ICOMOS and the World Heritage Centre, if requested, to reconsider if a robust case can be made based on a global thematic framework of designed scenic routes in a global context and in a range of environmental contexts which underpins a thorough and compelling comparative analysis, in order to bring into focus the potential significance of the nominated property;
  3. Considers that any revised nomination would need to be considered by an expert mission to the site.
