Decision 41 COM 8B.14
Khor Dubai, a Traditional Merchants’ Harbour (United Arab Emirates)

The World Heritage Committee,

  1. Having examined Documents WHC/17/41.COM/8B and WHC/17/41.COM/INF.8B1,
  2. Refers the nomination of Khor Dubai, a Traditional Merchants’ Harbour, United Arab Emirates, back to the State Party in order to further clarify:
    1. The attributes that justify the potential Outstanding Universal Value of the nominated property,
    2. The ongoing revitalization plan in Shindagha,
    3. The nominated property limits in Shindagha;
  3. Encourages the State Party and ICOMOS to develop a coordination mechanism by which they ensure regular consultation in the preparation of the additional documentation to be presented for the next World Heritage Committee;
  4. Recommends that the State Party give consideration to the following:
    1. Focus on monitoring and management action on threats with a high risk of impacting the potential Outstanding Universal Value,
    2. Keep the World Heritage Committee updated about all modifications to the immediate setting of the nominated property that could impact on it,
    3. Implement the monitoring procedures presented in the nomination.
