The Committee inscribed this site which has one of the richest faunal communities in East Africa, including almost half the population of the world's mountain gorillas, and one of Africa's most important forests for butterflies and bird diversity. The Committee commended the Government of Uganda as well as the international donors for their efforts in generating resources necessary for the establishment of an effective management regime.
