Meeting: "Implementing the HUL Recommendation: a common approach" - UNESCO World Heritage Centre, Chairs and C2Cs Representatives
In the context of the HUL Call for Action and building on the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, the World Heritage Cities Programme organised a meeting with UNESCO Chairs and Category 2 Centres (C2C) Representatives on the topic "Implementing the HUL Recommendation: a common approach" on 30 June 2022 at 12.00 - 14.00 (CEST).
The event brought together 38 participants from universities and institutions throughout the world, as well as the UNESCO World Heritage Centre. The meeting raised awareness about UNESCO Chairs activities and research using the HUL Recommendation approach, allowing stakeholders to exchange views and innovative ideas and enhance synergies with the World Heritage Cities Programme. In addition, UNESCO Chairs and Category 2 Centres were invited to:
- collaborate in the Third Consultation of UNESCO Member States on the implementation of the HUL Recommendation
- contribute to the World Heritage Canopy platform by submitting specific local case studies, especially on innovative heritage management and climate change.
- Sign up for the HUL Call for Action and share their experiences concerning the implementation of the HUL Recommendation.
As a follow up to the meeting, a permanent online platform on Teams was created to promote further interactions and exchanges. If you are an UNESCO Chair or Category 2 Centre and are not yet part of the network, please reach out to us at worldheritagecities@unesco.org.
