Director of UNESCO World Heritage Centre visits Ha Long Bay, Viet Nam

On 24 November 2015, at the occasion of a visit to Viet Nam to attend the celebration of the 70th anniversary of UNESCO, Mechtild Rossler, Director of the UNESCO World Heritage Centre, visited Ha Long Bay World Heritage site. Accompanying her were Mr. Le Hoai Trung, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Chairman of Viet Nam National Commission for UNESCO, and Mr. Pham Sanh Chau of the Department for Culture and Secretary General of Viet Nam National Commission for UNESCO.

Vice Chairman of Quang Ninh Province Vu Thi Thu Thuy welcomed Ms Rössler to Ha Long Bay and informed her of the implementation of the recommendations of the World Heritage Committee on the state of conservation of the site. The Vice Chairman also requested for the support and assistance from the World Heritage Centre for the International Assistance of the World Heritage Fund for the project “Effectively evaluation of the management of Ha Long Bay World Natural Heritage site”, and the dossier of the potential nominated property for the Complex of Yen Tu Monuments and Landscape, which is registered on the country's Heritage Tentative List.
