Results
The seminar was organised by the Estonian National Commission for UNESCO, the Estonian Board of Antiquities and the Tallin Heritage Preservation Department in collaboration with ICOMOS, ICCROM and IUCN. It took place in Tallin on 9 and 10 November 1998. The audience included preservation authorities, architects, restoration specialists and city authorities and the wider public. The seminar gave a new impetus to local decision-makers to take legislative, administrative, technical and financial measures for heritage protection. The ideas put forward during the seminar helped to promote the growth of cultural tourism and lay foundations for a more general discussion concerning the planning, building and renovation principles in the Old Town of Tallin.
