Room : Room 1 / MR 6
You can visit the exhibition from 23 to 27 July in the Exhibition Hall 14. To showcase the 'Dive into Heritage' project's progress and achievements, a side event is organized on 23 July 2023, during the 46th session of the World Heritage Committee. The event will be an opportunity to present the project, generously funded by the Ministry of Culture of Saudi Arabia, to an extended audience, invite States Parties to share their digital World Heritage data with UNESCO, encourage resource mobilization efforts, and provide a platform for exchange and consultation.
The event will commence with an opening address by UNESCO alongside a representative of the Ministry of Culture of Saudi Arabia. This will be followed by a presentation on the project and its different outcomes, including a demonstration of the current prototype of the platform. The side event’s keynote will shed light on development process of building the prototype. The keynote will be followed by an expert panel discussion “Digital Doors to Heritage: Enhancing User Experience and Online Access to World Heritage sites”.
During the side event, a Virtual Reality (VR) exhibition will be launched to showcase some of the project's key results through the latest digital technologies. The exhibit will include a curated VR experience, allowing users to virtually explore one of the World Heritage sites digitized through the project. A large touch screen will allow users to interact with several digitised World Heritage sites in 3D. Visitors can also admire 3D printed models of a selection of three World Heritage sites that can also be explored through Augmented Reality (AR).
