The first of four HERMES symposiums will be held in the newly restored Wieland estate in Ossmanstedt near Weimar. The event will bring together 20-25 experts from various countries and professional backgrounds.
Within the HERMES Project, sixteen partners from eight countries join forces in order to promote processes of regional development. This is to be achieved by means of innovative interactions between cultural heritage and New Media. The Project’s budget amounts to 2 million Euros for a period of three years (2003-2006).
The Project is coordinated by the Foundation Weimar Classic and Art Collections and the accompanying scientific work is carried out by the Institute of European Urban Studies at Bauhaus University and its main objective is to develop new ways of utilizing heritage through the integration of electronic media.
