Are you a youth organization and want to sensitize young people about the value of World Heritage sites?  Or are you an NGO and wish to organize an action camp to preserve and promote a World Heritage site, with young international volunteers? Here is a way to do so!

We are pleased to announce the call for proposals for the World Heritage Volunteers (WHV) 2014. This year the campaign will be contributing to the UN Decade of Education for Sustainable Development (2005-2014) and the Decade on Biodiversity (2011-2020)

The WHV 2014 provides challenging opportunities to young people to go beyond borders, share cultures, and work together to preserve natural sites, restore archaeological finds, and raise awareness amongst local communities about their heritage. Since the launching of the World Heritage Volunteers projects, around 1837 volunteers have taken part in 126 youth camps in 29 countries at 61 World Heritage sites. Join us and get involved in World Heritage preservation and promotion!

In the framework of the UNESCO World Heritage Education Programme, the World Heritage Volunteers Initiative is led by the World Heritage Centre (WHC) in collaboration with the Coordinating Committee for International Voluntary Service (CCIVS) and Open Houses in charge of the European coordination.

Call for Proposal

We would like to thank the organisations who have already sent in their application for the WHV 2014 Campaign Action for Sustainability. Due to feedback from many organisations informing us of difficulties to confirm projects within the deadline which is so close to the holiday period for those who celebrate Christmas next week, the deadline for application has been extended to 17th January 2014. We would of course appreciate your efforts to send the applications in as early as possible and not leave it until the last minute. We look forward to receiving your proposals and remain at your disposal for any clarification needed.

Application form is available online at World Heritage Volunteers page www.whvolunteers.org

For more information please consider the Call for Proposal document
