Description
The botanical zakaznik (reserve) Kusavlisay situated on the North slopes of Turkestan mountain ridge to the north direction from Shahristan pass of Dushanbe – Hodjent road. It is contiguous with Republic of Uzbekistan on the west. True altitudes in the pass points reach 2700-3000 m. The north steep slope is very stony.
The main of establishment of the reserve is conservation of juniper forest massif. Its vegetation is represented by three species of juniper: zerafshan, turkestan and semigloboza.
The fauna of the zakaznik is very rich. Juniper forests are the place of habitat of tolai hare, bears, wild boars, mountain sheep, goats and others.
