Establishment of Djibouti's Tentative List - Awareness raising workshop (February 2014)
Objectives
A Tentative List is an inventory of those properties which each State Party to the World Heritage Convention considers to be cultural and/or natural heritage of Outstanding Universal Value, and therefore suitable for inscription on the World Heritage List. Without such an inventory, a State Party cannot submit nomination files for inscriptions on the World Heritage List.

Djibouti became a State Party to the World Heritage Convention in 2007. This project aimed to support Djibouti in establishing its Tentative List.

Results

The identification of sites of potential Outstanding Universal Value for possible future nominations included sites visit (November-December 2013) and consultations with local stakeholders, awareness-raising activities and a validation workshop (September 2014).

The final Tentative List of Djibouti was submitted to the World Heritage Centre on 5 January 2015. It comprises 10 sites: 3 cultural sites, 6 natural sites and 1 mixed site.
