Sindhudurg: This fort was completely envisaged and constructed by the Maratha king; the unique feature being identifying the Kurte island which also provided with the raw material for construction. The Dykes (volcanic stones) are still observed on fort. The ramparts are robust and have stood the test of time, the saline water and sea breeze.
