The Comité français pour la sauvegarde de Venise often sponsors the restoration of Venetian monuments that have a French connection.
This is the case of the Cappella Clary in the Church of San Trovaso, the burial place of a French princess.
The most important work in the chapel is the beautiful fifteenth-century relief carving of three Greek marble panels on the front of the altar, but the project also provided for cleaning and consolidating the carved wooden stalls and uncovering the tempera paintings on the vaulting which had been whitewashed out following a fire in the last century.
