ITSUKO HASEGAWA

Itsuko Hasegawa, among the first Japanese women to achieve fame as an architect, was born in 1941 and graduated from Kanto Gakuin University in Yokohama in 1964, setting up a studio in Tokyo in 1979. Her repertoire includes the Shonandai Cultural Centre in Fujisawa, the Oshima-machi Picture Book Museum in Imizu and the Sumida Culture Factory in Sumida. Her Shonandai Cultural Centre is conceived as a reduced model of the universe.
