Decision 31 COM 7B.19
State of conservation of World Heritage Properties - Sagarmatha National Park

The World Heritage Committee,

1.Having examined Document WHC-07/31.COM/7B;

2.Recalling Decision 30 COM 7B.15, adopted at its 30th session (Vilnius, 2006);

3.Requests the State Party to provide information on the outcome of the decision of the Supreme Court of Nepal in relation to the Kongde View Resort as soon as a decision is made, and the steps it plans to take in relation to the resort;

4.Urges the State Party to study the impact of any development on the outstanding universal value and integrity of the property; and to carry out consultation with stakeholders on mitigation measures before any development operations begin, as requested by the Committee at its 30th session (Vilnius, 2006);

5.Also requests the State Party to submit to the World Heritage Centre by 1 February 2009 a report on the state of conservation of the property including progress on the issues outlined above, in particular on the measures that will be taken to maintain the integrity and outstanding universal value of the property, for examination by the Committee at its 33rd session in 2009.
