Training Workshop on Sustainable Tourism Planning and Management at World Heritage sites in China
China has 31 World Heritage sites inscribed on the World Heritage List, and the volume of mass tourism in China has been a major challenge for site management.
This workshop will be the first of a series of training activities for tourism management in China. It will provide a broad overview of sustainable tourism issues and techniques, and will identify management needs and an action plan that sets the stage for future training interventions.
The goal of the workshop is to develop an action plan to establish a training programme of Chinese World Heritage site managers.
Presentations and group discussions will be followed by working sessions to develop site management priorities and necessary future actions. Case studies and practical examples will be used to present different themes, and literature, case studies and other training materials will be supplied. A field trip to Lushan National Park World Heritage property will also take place.
