Caribbean Training Course in the Preparation of Nomination Dossiers 2012-2013

The World Heritage Centre in collaboration with the UNESCO Offices in Kingston and Havana will organize the Caribbean Training Course in the Preparation of Nomination Dossiers, which will be held in Kingston (Jamaica) from 5 to 15 June 2012 within the framework of the Japanese Funds-in-Trust project "Capacity Building to Support the Conservation of World Heritage Sites and Enhance Sustainable Development of Local Communities in Small Island Developing States (SIDS)".

This 10-days training course is open to professionals from the natural and cultural heritage fields, who should be nominated by their National Commissions for UNESCO, and aims to strengthen professional capacities in Caribbean Small Island Developing States (SIDS) in preparing nomination dossiers and increase the number and quality of nominations of cultural and natural heritage sites, with focus on sites of memory in the Caribbean.

This training course is the first phase of a mentoring and training exercise. After this workshop, participants are expected to undertake fieldwork and to start developing their nomination dossiers, and will gather again for a follow-up training course to assess the development of the dossiers in accordance with the overall planning and specific action plans drafted for the site under consideration.
