Jaeger-LeCoultre, Swiss luxury watch manufacture, and the International Herald Tribune have joined forced with UNESCO’s World Heritage Centre to provide support to the World Heritage Marine Programme. A 3 year partnership will provide funding and communication coverage for one of the World Heritage Committee’s programme priorities thus contributing to the identification of new marine sites not yet listed and the development of protection measures for the 32 sites with important marine components already inscribed. In the first year of the project, a news campaign will be developed showcasing the programme - and the sites covered by it – and will be published in the print and online versions of the International Herald Tribune, thus offering additional visibility to the partnership, , to warn the public opinion about the ocean deeps preservation.
