American Museum of Natural History

AMNH Expeditions, the first museum educational travel program, was established by the American Museum of Natural History in 1953. The goal of AMNH Expeditions is to present educational travel programs that reflect past and current areas of interest and exploration by American Museum of Natural History. The programs provide a combination of study, adventure, and leisure activities.

AMNH Expeditions and UNESCO World Heritage Centre have launched an exciting  partnership aimed at increasing the public's awareness of the need to protect and preserve the values of World Heritage sites.  This partnership will also help to address the growing demand and interest for more culturally driven travel by providing rich content to the Museum's Expeditions team.

Together AMNH and UNESCO's World Heritage Centre have created World Heritage Expeditions, a new travel series exploring the ongoing efforts for the conservation and preservation of some of the world's outstanding cultural and natural sites.  The series will launch in 2008 with two extraordinary trips:  one to the myriad sites in Turkey and another to Mesoamerica's natural and cultural treasures in El Salvador, Honduras, and Guatemala.  Through this new partnership, AMNH Expeditions travelers, led by UNESCO experts and site managers, will enjoy behind-the-scenes access to World Heritage sites and their critical conservation processes.
