Description
The mausoleum was built as burial—vault for Sultan Said's daughter Hovand Sultan Bibi in 1464 and used to be burial—vault for women and children of Timurids dynasty. The mausoleum was massive, rectangle in plan with big portal and hall at the south—western part and the dome installed on the high cylindrical drum above the central hall. The building had two— storied eastern wing and partly western. The mausoleum's composition was complicated but accurate: the portal was situated on the central axis crossing the building with the main hall of gurhana, mosque and two— storied gallery behind. All rooms were connected by long axis. Suite of rooms make the possibility to unite interiors in perspective from different points. The open gallery and door embrasures faced on all façades connecting the interior with garden around the building. The construction is unique for its inside and outside decoration, colourful "Kundal" murals and magnificent revetment. By its scale lshrathona is close to big constructions of Timur's period.
