Ur

Ur was one of the important sumerian capitals. It was the capital of Mesopotamia, the cradle of civilization at the end of the third millennium B.C. and it was already an important commercial center by the time of the first dynasty. A long period of decline was followed by the brilliant-reign of ur-Nammu, the founder of the 3rd Dynasty of Ur (C.2125 B.C.) .
