A new World Heritage Volunteers initiative organizes Patrimonito Workcamps where young volunteers from different countries can live and work together with the local population on the protection of a World Heritage site. It is the result of a partnership between the Co-ordinating Committee for International Voluntary Service (CCIVS) and the UNESCO World Heritage Education Programme.
The workcamps will be implemented by international voluntary service organizations that use non-formal education methods. The projects encourage synergies with heritage and eduction experts as well as governmental agencies and the World Heritage site managers.
Twelve Patrimonito Workcamps will be held during summer 2008. They will last from two to four weeks and host from ten to thirty participants from around the world.
