At Ujung Kulon National Park Indonesia's Forestry Department and local NGOs are working on strategies to help poor local communities benefit from their natural resources in a more sustainable way. Ujung Kulon houses a unique volcanic environment, the largest area of lowland rainforest in the Java plain, and the last 60 Javan rhinoceros in the world. At Komodo National Park Indonesia's Forestry Department and local NGOs are working on strategies to help poor local communities benefit from their natural resources in a more sustainable way. Komodo is world-renowned for the endangered Komodo dragon and an important marine reserve with more than 1,000 species of tropical fish, invertebrates, and mammals. Ujung Kulon houses a unique volcanic environment, the largest area of lowland rainforest in the Java plain, and the last 60 Javan rhinoceros in the world.
