The partnership between TripAdvisor, the world's largest on-line community of travellers, and UNESCO was launched at the end of October 2009 to mobilize travellers' support to preserve natural and cultural sites inscribed on UNESCO's World Heritage List.

TripAdvisor will donate up to 1.5m USD of support over the next two years UNESCO's World Heritage Centre to help handle the considerable task of monitoring the conservation of the 890 natural and cultural sites inscribed on the World Heritage List.

The World Heritage Centre provides technical and administrative support for States that have ratified the 1972 World Heritage Convention, enabling them to translate its provisions into action.
